Abstract

Background: Cases of hypertension in the elderly are still a problem, especially in the people of West Sumatra. Patients with hypertension must be taken seriously

because it can reduce the quality of life of the elderly and can even couse more

serious illness to sudden death due to hypertension which does not cause

significant symptoms for sufferers. Objective: To find out the description of the quality of life of elderly people with hypertension in the working area of the Lubuk Buaya Health Center, Padang city 2022.

Method: The scope of this research is internal medicine and psychiatry. The research was conducted in March October 2022. The type of research is descriptive categorical. The affordable population in this study were all elderly people with hypertension when visiting the Lubuk Buaya Health Center in Padang City in 2022 with a total of 61 samples using the total sampling technique

Univariate data analysis was presented in the form of a frequency distribution,

and data processing used the computerized SPSS program IBM version 25.0 Results: More than half with blood pressure status of degree 1 hypertension. namely 35 people (57.4%), more than half with female sex, namely 50 people (82.0%), more than half with elderly people, namely 45 people (73, 8%), more than half with marital status are married, namely 35 people (57.4%), more than half with a long history of 1 year, namely 54 people (88.5%), more than half with a history of other diseases, namely 34 people (55.7%), and more than half with a good quality of life, namely 53 people (86.9%), more than half with good physical domain, namely 46 people (75.4%), more than half with good psychological domain, namely 50 people (82%), more than half with good social domain, namely 53 people (86.9%), and more than half with a good environmental domain, namely 55 people (90.2%).

Conclusion: The quality of life for for the the elderly in general is good, the quality of life for the elderly in the physical domain is good, the quality of life for the elderly in the psychological domain is good, the quality of life for the elderly in the social domain is good, and the quality of life for the elderly in the environmental domairs is good.
