Abstract
Dadiah is a traditional food for the people of West Sumatra made from fermented buffalo milk in a bamboo
container. As a fermented product, dadiah contains many lactic acid bacteria that have the potential as probiotics,
including Lactobacillus plantarum isolated from dadiah payakumbuh which has the potential as a probiotic. As a
probiotic, L. plantarum exhibits a number of beneficial health effects in humans and animals. It is capable of
enhancing the body's immune system or as an immune-modulator. Probiotics help regulate the intestinal
microflora and have immunomodulatory properties. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of L.
plantarum from dadiah payakumbuh as an immune-modulator, both bio-informatically and in vitro. This study
looked at the activity of L. plantarum as an immune-modulator in bioinformatics by searching for secondary
metabolites by looking at the structure of the canonical and isomeric SMILE (simplified molecular-input lineentry system) in the PubChem database, as well as analyzing IgA in jejunum tissue of Norway Rat White (Rattus
novernicus) given hypertension treatment using KIT ELISA. It was found that there was a predictive result of
SAR Way2 Drug pass server from L. plantarum as an immune-modulator with a value of 0.47 and the IgA value
in the jejunum tissue of R. novernicus. Hypertension in the rats increased compared to those who were not treated.
L. plantarum from dadiah payakumbuh is able to increase the body immunity, since it produces
immunomodulatory secondary metabolites.
